トンガラとブブクワAbout Tongara and Bubukuwa.
アフリカンマスクを知った当初、私は特にコートジボワールの部族「ダン族」に伝わるマスクに心奪われました。このダンマスクを彫りたい、という一心で通い始めた木彫教室。刀の使い方は勿論ですが、この教室で現在学んでいるのは、日本のお面や立像です。

“トンガラ” はネックレス状のマスクにつけた名前です。
名前の由来ですが、特に・・・ありません（笑）彼らを見ていたら降りてきた名前です。
もうひとつ、置物になっている彼らには “ブブクワ” と名づけました。ブブクワは、まだ小さい手のひらサイズですが、今後は被れる程の大きさも彫っていきたいと考えています。
